The successor standard to EN 15038 has been available as ISO 17100:2015 since 1 May 2015. This means that the European standard for the certification of translation services providers has taken another step towards internationalisation. The ISO 17100 makes translation service providers comparable worldwide.
The process orientation has been described in terms of its content, (pre-production processes, production processes and post-production processes). At different points, some fine-tuning was done e.g., with regard to the skills of the translators, editors and project managers and in terms of translation tools.
ISO 17100:2015 now replaces EN 15038. There will be a transition period of three years in which certification will still be carried out in accordance with EN 15038. LinquaCert will provide upgrade audits in real time (document review of content innovations). For translation service providers this means:
- Creating and updating skills profiles of project managers, from which the desired and actual skills
are clearly seen (3.1.7).
- Creating a procedure for updating skills (3.1.8).
- Creating a procedure for information security (4.5).
